The original “Empty Bowls” event served lunch guests a simple meal of soup and bread in a beautiful hand-crafted bowl made by local students and artists.  The guest would then keep the bowl as a reminder of hunger in the world...humble beginnings have grown to many community events throughout the United States.  In the Valley Springs community, artists will be joined by students, churches, local businesses and individuals painting & designing bowls.

Guests will choose a bowl that day to keep as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. Pay for your bowl.  It's just $15, in exchange you will receive a simple lunch of soup and bread.  You keep the bowl as a reminder that you helped ease someone elses hunger! One hundred percent of each meal's proceeds will be donated to the Valley Springs Food Banks at the Community United Methodist Church and the Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church.
